SALVATION ARMY AFTER SCHOOL LEARNING CENTERS:DETAILS: With school starting, our After School Learning Centers are about to go into full swing September 13 and we are in need of volunteers! The Salvation Army in Central Ohio (TSA) is looking for volunteers to tutor children in grades 1 through 8 who are living in poverty and are struggling in reading and math. Tutors are needed one day a week for two hours. Tutoring sessions run for 10 weeks during each academic quarter. Volunteer tutors can help in many ways: tutor a child one-on-one, work with a group of children; sit while a child reads to you; assist in assessment testing; create art projects with the children; assist multiple children with their homework…the ways to help are endless. CONTACT: Please contact Dinah O'Dell directly as background checks must be run on all volunteers: Dinah.odell@use.salvationarmy.org or 614-358-2627. |
