The King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood is a historically African American neighborhood in Columbus and the site of considerable revitalization and renovation projects on behalf of the city, including the historic Lincoln Theatre. There are currently 16,000 residents in the one square mile of Bronzeville which encompasses Jefferson to Taylor and Broad to 670.

GenNext volunteers braved the cold photo journaling the neighborhood, alleys and buildings to assist with the neighborhood revitalization. Willis Brown and Dana Messinger, President and Chair, respectively, King-Lincoln/Bronzeville Association gave a presentation on the history of Bronzeville and
Darla Reed, Facility Director, King Arts Complex, introduced a brief history of the King Arts Complex and the help needed from volunteers.

Other volunteers went to Neighborhood House where a shipment of supplies to Haiti was being prepared and loaded.

Taylor Lies posted via Facebook: "Things went really well over at Neighborhood House. They've got a great facility and host a wide variety of programs. Everyone we worked with there was really welcoming and appreciative."

On December 9, GenNext and the Alexis de Tocqueville Society joined together for a fun, festive evening of holiday gift wrapping for the women residents at the YWCA. Today, the historic Griswold Building in downtown Columbus is home to more than 100 low-income women at any given time - many who are beginning their first jobs; recovering from drug-related, alcohol-related, and mental illnesses; or pursuing their education.
